Welcome to the May 2010 Recreio hockey section monthly newsletter

Club de Recreio was founded in 1906, originally for Portuguese and expatriate members of the community. It offers hockey, tennis, lawn bowls and badminton along with a dining area and facilities for card games.

Although the hockey section was not one of the founding members of the Hong Kong Hockey Association, we are the longest surviving hockey club on the association's roster, not having missed a season in 75 years. To celebrate the club's 100th birthday in 2006, the Club de Recreio Centenary Cup was initiated as a pre-season kickoff competition for the top two teams of the previous year's 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division.

With the absence of last year's top scorers - Marc Robson is away from Hong Kong for two years and Andy Kan had to sit out the first half of the season on medical advice - the ladies have shown their strength in front of goal. With just a few games left to play, June Lam of the "A" team leads the pack ahead of Zoe Tam of the "C", followed by three players tied for 3rd spot.
